How much does it cost to rent snowboard gear?

So how much is it to rent a snowboard? The quickest way to see the real range is to compare published price lists. These are one-day prices for the 2026–27 season as shown on each resort’s official site when we checked them on 23 September 2026. None of them include a lift ticket.

Big Bear describes its prices as varying “based on availability, peak holidays, and other high-demand periods” and says you “get the best rates when you book in advance,” so the range is all the page shows until you choose a date. A snowboard package normally means a board with bindings already mounted, plus boots. Beyond that, shops differ, as the table shows:

• Helmet: included in Loveland and Monarch packages; at Big Bear it’s an add-on for $10 when you add it at checkout or $20 booked on its own (checked 23 September 2026).
• Goggles: included in Loveland’s packages. Monarch says it doesn’t rent goggles or gloves; Big Bear sells them in its base-area shops rather than renting them.
• Clothing: some shops rent outerwear. Monarch’s rental page lists adult pants or jacket at $25, or $40 for both; Big Bear rents snow pants for $20 a day in person only.
• Equipment tier: beginner or basic gear is often older, while sport, performance or demo tiers cost more for newer or higher-end boards.

Also ask about deposits, damage cover and overnight storage. Loveland, for example, requires a credit card for all rental deposits and has no overnight storage at its rental shops.

• Half day: Monarch offers half-day sets starting at 12:30, priced in the table above.
• Several days in a row: Loveland says you can extend a first-day online booking for multiple days with a $5 discount when you check in (checked 23 September 2026). Other shops set their own multi-day rates, so ask for the total for your whole stay.
• A whole season: season rentals exist, but not everywhere or for every product. Monarch, for instance, offers seasonal ski rentals but states that “snowboard seasonal rentals are not available.” If you want to rent a snowboard for the season, ask local shops and resorts directly and compare the price with the number of days you expect to ride.

Busy dates matter too. Monarch notes that on weekends, holidays and spring break, pre-booked renters get priority and walk-in rentals open later. Booking ahead is the easiest way to guarantee gear and, at dynamically priced shops, often a lower rate.

Shops set their own rules for young renters, so check the policy where you plan to rent. Two examples we checked on 23 September 2026:

• Jiminy Peak (Massachusetts) says those under 18 renting skis or snowboards must have a parent or guardian sign the rental agreement, and that its kids’ snowboard rentals start at 70 cm boards and junior size 11 boots.
• Mt. Baker Ski Area (Washington) says minors under 18 need a parent or guardian present, or a Minor Rental Release Agreement signed by a parent or legal guardian.

Children’s gear is offered from a young age at some resorts. Monarch prices child sets for ages 3–6, and Loveland has a snowboard package for ages 5 and under. 1. Book online if you can, especially for weekends and holidays, and choose the tier that suits your ability.
2. Have your details ready: height, weight, shoe size, ability level and which foot you ride forward. If you don’t know, find your stance first.
3. Bring ID and a credit card for the deposit, and a parent or guardian for under-18s if the shop requires it.
4. Wear your riding socks and try the boots carefully.
5. Check the setup: bindings mounted for your stance, straps working and the board length suitable.
6. Note the return time and the process if you need to swap boots.
